Deaudrick Williams has a keen sense of being able to bring real life to the track. He isn’t out here making commercial music just to sell. He’s making music to actually feed the soul. Lowkey, Ebony has been one of the most CONSCIOUS rap albums we’ve ever heard.
Check out this interview we were able to get with the Future Kendrick Lamar of his time.
Music I Grew Up Listening To: I grew up listening to a variety of music. My dad was a dj so he had tons of cds, he had so many old records. so anything from Nas to the Isley brothers! Erykah badu to Lil Wayne. Literally everything.
Artist I’ve Been Compared To:
I get the Kendrick comparison a lot. I don’t think it’s because of the way I rap I think it’s because of the content I rap about. But I’m not mad at it at that at all. He’s one of my influences so some similarities are inevitable.
Songs My Fans Love The Most:
It’s a couple that got high praise. “In Tampa” was definitely everyone’s favorite. That song really got the most feedback out of anything I put out. “Cherry Beamer” as well. But recently “Amor” has really been a favorite of everybody that listened to my new project “Ebony” it’s really getting a ton of love.
My Most Slept On Song:
Man that’s so tough. I leave everything on those beats truly. I honestly think it’s “for colored folks” it’s such a beautiful song. It’s a song I wish somebody made for me when I was a kid. It means so much to me.
Craziest Thing I’ve Ever Done: This is a little x-rated but the craziest thing I ever done was have sex in a baseball dugout. It was like 2 am, I mean… we ain’t have anywhere else to go you feel me.
Something Most People Don’t Know About Me:
Most people don’t know that I’m really into conspiracy theories of all kinds. Ranging from religions, our purpose, Black holes, aliens, diseases etc. I always want to know the why of open ended questions if that makes sense. Like why doesn’t this have a cure but this does? Why am I having deja vu, what was the purpose of cointelpro, why did are so many holistic doctors mysteriously dying. Yea that kind of stuff.
I’m Gonna Blow Up Because:
I used to think I was going to blow up off the strength that I’m nice. Like I can really rap, there’s not many people in my opinion that can just rap better than me. But I honestly don’t have an answer to that, I’m confident in my music, confident in my sound but I’m letting God take the wheel on that. I believe in fate and I stopped trying to “blow up” awhile ago. I just go into the studio and do what I feel.
I’m Gonna Be The Next:
Hopefully I’m the next Deaudrick Williams. That’s all I can be you know, I just want people to listen to my music and feel like they’re not alone I want them to feel motivated, feel like they can do anything. I want to make an impact. Hopefully me being the next me is enough
