DJ Envy, also known as Raashaun Casey, is reportedly under an order to comply with a bankruptcy court subpoena, or he could face arrest. The order, issued on December 20, extends to Envy’s business associates, Cesar Pina and his wife, Jennifer Iturralde Pina.
As previously reported, Cesar Pina faced wire fraud charges in October related to a real estate scam. DJ Envy had promoted Pina’s ventures on his radio show, ‘The Breakfast Club,’ leading to investors alleging they were defrauded while relying on DJ Envy’s endorsement.
The latest development centers on a subpoena issued on November 9, requesting “communications and documents” related to two real estate investment companies owned by Pina. These companies were forced into bankruptcy earlier this year, with a court-appointed trustee overseeing their proceedings.
Despite the November 28 deadline, DJ Envy did not provide the requested documents. Now, U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Rosemary Gambardella has ordered the radio host to produce “all documents requested” by January 8. Failure to comply may result in a hearing to determine “appropriate sanctions” against the individuals involved.
This legal challenge adds to DJ Envy’s troubles, as he reportedly faces a new federal lawsuit. The suit claims that Envy’s promotion of Pina’s ventures played a significant role in the plaintiffs becoming investors with Pina. According to the plaintiff’s attorney, Alexander Schachtel, there is “significant evidence” implicating DJ Envy in Pina’s schemes, alleging that the radio host profited from his alleged involvement.
