Miami rapper Gunplay was arrested on August 19 for allegedly pointing a rifle at his wife and baby. The incident occurred during a dispute over his loud Xbox gaming. He faces charges including aggravated battery, domestic violence, false imprisonment, and child abuse.
Reported by Fox Sports’ Andy Slater, Gunplay, whose real name is Richard Morales Jr., denied the accusations. He’s currently held in custody with a $20,000 bail.
Gunplay’s wife, Vonshae Taylor-Morales, shared her side of the story on Instagram, describing the incident as traumatic. She cited his alcohol issues and announced plans for divorce to ensure her and her daughter’s safety.
Vonshae stated, “I and my daughter are safe. Unfortunately, Richard has relapsed into substance abuse and developed a severe drinking problem.”
The altercation stemmed from Vonshae asking Gunplay to quiet down while playing Call of Duty as it was disturbing their baby’s sleep. The situation escalated, leading to Gunplay’s arrest and the weapon’s confiscation. A restraining order is in place, giving Vonshae custody of their daughter.
Gunplay’s recent trouble follows a previous incident where he threatened violence at a club during his birthday party after the DJ played 50 Cent’s music. The outburst was captured on video, showing Gunplay’s aggressive behavior.
