Ye, the artist formerly known as Kanye West, is reportedly facing legal action from a former employee of his Yeezy brand, shedding light on disturbing allegations surrounding his involvement with Donda Academy.
According to TMZ, Trevor Phillips has filed a lawsuit against Ye, claiming that he was hired to work on the Yeezy team in late 2022 with a focus on expanding cotton production for the fashion line. However, Phillips alleges that his responsibilities soon expanded to include tasks for Donda Academy, a shift that he found challenging.
Phillips claims in the lawsuit that Ye expressed antisemitic views during meetings with Donda Academy staff and students, even going as far as proposing extreme measures such as shaving students’ heads and installing a jail at the school, with threats of locking students in cages under his proposed plan.
Furthermore, Phillips alleges that Ye made derogatory remarks about gay people, stating that they are not true Christians and are controlled by Bill Gates to control population growth.
TMZ reports that Phillips was terminated from his employment with Ye in May 2023. He alleges that Ye created a hostile work environment, particularly targeting Black employees. As a result, Phillips is suing Ye for discrimination, harassment, and creating a hostile work environment, among other claims.
The controversy surrounding Donda Academy doesn’t end there. In 2022, the school, named after Ye’s late mother, temporarily closed its doors following antisemitic comments made by Ye. Since then, several lawsuits have been filed against the institution, including claims of unlawful education practices, racial discrimination, and wrongful termination by former teachers and staff members. Despite attempts to address the legal challenges, the school remains closed, and its condition reportedly continues to deteriorate, highlighting the ongoing fallout from Ye’s actions.
