Family Demanding Police Body Cam Footage After Pregnant Woman Fatally Shot For Allegedly For Shoplifting Alcohol

This incident occurred at a Kroger supermarket in Blendon Township on August 24th. Police were already present in the parking lot when an employee alerted them to shoplifting. Two officers approached the woman’s vehicle, who is now known as Ta’Kiya Young, demanding she turn off the ignition and exit.

Ta’Kiya allegedly tried to ram one of the officers, leading to the officer shooting her through the windshield. Ta’Kiya later died at the hospital, along with her unborn daughter. This situation was so sudden and utterly inhumane and the family believes there could have been a better way to handle the situation and wants answers. The police department has stated that they will share the body cam footage with the family before making it public.
