Teenager Arrested in Connection to Fatal Stabbing at Washington, D.C. McDonald’s

Authorities have arrested and charged a 16-year-old teenager in connection with a recent stabbing outside a McDonald’s in Washington, D.C. The incident, which took place early Sunday morning, resulted in the death of another teenager.

According to reports, a group of teenagers had driven from Maryland to attend a party in D.C. They later stopped at a 24-hour McDonald’s at the intersection of U and 14th Streets Northwest. A dispute over sauce erupted inside the vehicle and escalated into a violent altercation outside the McDonald’s.

Detective Brendan Jasper testified that the argument was specifically about “sweet-and-sour sauce.” The group exited the car, and the altercation continued right outside the restaurant. It was during this confrontation that 16-year-old Naima Liggon was stabbed in the abdomen and torso. Unfortunately, Liggon was pronounced dead at Howard University Hospital.

Following the incident, authorities were alerted to a juvenile female seeking treatment for stab wounds. They arrived at the hospital and, despite efforts to save her, Liggon succumbed to her injuries. After an investigation, a 16-year-old juvenile female from Waldorf, MD, was arrested. The suspect was found in possession of a knife at the time of her arrest.

The suspect has been charged with second-degree murder while armed, assault with intent to kill, aggravated assault, felony assault, and carrying a dangerous weapon. She has claimed that the stabbing was done in self-defense, alleging that she was knocked to the ground by Liggon and another teen.

The victim’s family released a statement in memory of Naima Liggon, describing her as a beautiful, smart, funny, and unique young lady. They expressed the profound impact of her senseless loss on their family, friends, and community. The family urged parents to cherish their children and emphasized the importance of expressing love, as one never knows when it might be the last time they see them.

The principal of Thomas Stone High School, where Liggon attended, also shared a statement expressing deep sadness over the tragic loss. The school community was asked to keep Liggon’s family, friends, and loved ones in their thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
